Opportunity

Doctors learn medicine — not business — and shouldn't have to be experts at both.

There are 1 million doctors in the US, and most aspire to be independent. But as their business is stuck on paper and the system turns against them, they're forced to give up. We're here to change that.

We're building the operating system for independent doctors. Our mission is to put their business on autopilot so they can remain independent and focus on providing the best care for their patients.

Lassie

Lassie is founded on the idea that running a practice should be fun and easy.

Today, doctors rely on overworked office staff to manually reconcile their financials. 80% of payments are on paper! If they don't spend hours a week entering data and cashing checks, the business grinds to a halt.

We completely automate their finances, merging insurance payments, bank accounts, and billing systems into a beautiful, unified ledger. Our product saves practices 10+ hours a week and reconciles their business in real-time. They love us for it :)

We have 150+ practices relying on us to run their business and growing fast, entirely through word of mouth. Next, we are assembling the team to scale to 1,000 over the coming months and lay the foundation for an industry-defining company.

Our founding team brings together serial founder experience, early growth at Robinhood, Coinbase, and HealthTap, early product at Superhuman, and engineering at Ramp, Citadel, and Uber. We share a passion for solving complex problems with simple and beautiful products.

We are backed by great investors (Homebrew, SV Angel, Unusual, Sequoia scouts), founders (TransferWise, Commure, NexHealth, Superhuman), and early employees (Stripe, Ramp, Plaid, Robinhood, Coinbase, Palantir, Venmo).

Challenges

We have exceptional product-market fit and can't meet the demand of our 1,000+ waitlist. That's where you come in!

Over the coming months, we'll need to:

  • Design a consumer-grade onboarding experience that can scale to 100 onboardings a week. We're aiming for 1 hour — the industry status quo is measured in weeks.

  • Drive the industry-wide shift from paper to electronic payments by automating processes that are made to be manual and cumbersome.

  • Architect a data pipeline to reliably ingest and process millions of insurance claims across all the major insurance carriers.

  • Develop smart bank ledgers using raw payment rails, enabling perfect reconciliation across any bank account and accounting system.

  • Shape the financial dashboard for independent doctors, allowing them to understand and control their finances for the first time.

The work will be challenging, but if we succeed, independent doctors will thrive, and patients across the country will receive more personal, higher-quality care.

You

We are a small team with outsized impact and care deeply about the quality of our work. Every person has a different story, but you are likely a good fit if:

  • You ship high-quality code fast. You might be the best engineer you know.

  • You are a self-starter with an obsessive drive. You will be successful with or without us.

  • You are a tinkerer and love building products that delight. You are willing to persevere to take something from great to remarkable.

  • You are a good person. We want to play long-term games with long-term people.

  • You want to build a generational company. We aren’t looking for a quick exit — we want to transform an industry.

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you! If you have a unique itch to contribute and think we are missing something, reach out regardless. We enjoy being challenged in our thinking.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
