We are:
DeviantArt's Canada-based backend engineering and machine learning team. We are responsible for all search, recommendation, and machine learning applications at DeviantArt, the world's largest arts community; and we work closely with other Wix teams who leverage similar techniques and technologies to develop core Wix features.
We're looking for an API Engineer to join us in building DeviantArt Protect, our industry-leading platform for protecting creators' rights on the decentralized web. We are working at the intersection of machine learning and blockchain technologies to ensure that artists remain in control of their art. By making the decentralized economy more transparent, trustworthy, and defensible, we aim to make it accessible to more mainstream uses, and thereby to help all artists realize the potential of the NFT revolution.
You are:
A backend engineer with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in developing and deploying distributed web applications, including at least 1 year of experience in building and operating public API endpoints. You've taken at least one project from design through development and to operation and maintenance phases of its lifecycle. You are comfortable programming in Python and designing serverless applications. You're self-directed, and enjoy starting from high-level requirements rather than being given very granular tasks. You take ownership of the systems you build and expect others to do the same.
You see the potential that decentralized technologies have to change the Internet, but are also aware of the many challenges facing the ecosystem today. You're excited to take part in ensuring the Internet remains safe and open for everyone.
As an API Engineer at DeviantArt, you will:

• Contribute to the design and development of our multitenant DeviantArt Protect platform, making heavy use of Python and managed AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, CloudFormation, S3, and CloudWatch
• Build and scale the public APIs that enable us to offer DeviantArt Protect to internal Wix customers as well as external, third-party integrations
• Work directly with some of the top companies in the Web3 space
• Act as a primary partner-facing contact point during development of high-value customer integrations
• Mentor new employees as the team continues to grow

While we are open to US-based remote employees, we strongly prefer candidates who are able and willing to relocate to Vancouver, Canada in order to join us in working in a hybrid schedule (3 days on-site, 2 days working from home).
