The Company

At Span, we are building products to drive the rapid adoption of renewable energy and enable a more modern, flexible grid. Span’s smart panel replaces the standard electrical panel to become the center for connected power in the home, providing intelligent load-balancing and revolutionary edge-of-grid controls through the Span mobile app.

The Role

In this role you will serve as a key technical member of the cross-functional Products & Applications Engineering team, with the mission to bring cutting-edge energy products to market. You will work at the intersection of the operations and engineering teams. In this role you will drive product excellence by translating your knowledge of energy products gained through field experience into creative solutions to ensure success of new/existing system integrations via lab and field testing.

Members of our team are hands-on, team oriented, cross-functional, creative, and most of all highly passionate in driving adoption of clean energy at scale. Ability to apply technical reasoning to a variety of projects and processes is a must. Excellent written and verbal communication are a must.

In this role, you will:

  • Apply your knowledge of solar+storage systems to support integration testing in Span’s development lab. This will include building test setups, defining system test plans, working with 3rd party engineering teams, and conducting the integration testing alongside Span Engineering.
  • Collaborate with field/product/service/engineering teams to develop solutions for improving installation experience related to paired solar+storage systems.
  • Develop relationships with Span’s solar+storage installation partners to uncover areas to improve the installation and deployment experience.
  • Manage pilot installations of new system integrations in the field and/or remotely.
  • Serve as technical contact for internal/external groups to articulate how Span’s products may be deployed in various applications.
  • Create technical documentation to guide installers on new applications of Span products.
  • Support Sales in reviewing site audit photos and single line diagrams (SLDs) and sharing install configuration recommendations.
