ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The PAX Automation team is looking for an Automation & Controls Software Engineer to help develop and deploy modern connected manufacturing experiences to our vast network of Brand Partners. As a key member of the team, we will work together to specify, design, build, and test/validate our customized extract filling machines and supporting equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Concept, develop, and deploy connected SW/Standalone Applications for Windows based IPCs that link PAX backend databases to equipment processes/protocols. 
  • Generate modern, clean & intuitive HMI screens (with inputs from our design team) that abstract machine complexities away from operators.
  • Participate in initial equipment concept definition & development while balancing product specifications, process requirements, user needs and PM schedules.
  • Build physical prototypes & iterate often with the Automation ME team to verify controls architecture decisions dovetail with system integration & mechanical requirements.
  • Architect, write, and debug OOP code with an emphasis on organization, documentation, and maintainability for manufacturing applications.
  • Manage electrical cabinet builds & electromechanical component selection (servos, steppers, controllers, terminations, fieldbus, etc.)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 3-5 years experience in the design and commissioning of automation and controls systems or applications for industrial applications.
  • C#, .NET, and/or Python experience.
  • Experience storing and querying data from SQL Databases (or similar) either directly (SQL queries) or using ORMs.
  • A proven track record of managing code using .git.
  • Be a strong, self-motivated individual that can objectively rank and prioritize development work for yourself.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Beckhoff IPC and TwinCAT3 experience.
  • HTML5 & CSS HMI Design experience. 
  • UI/UX Design understanding and how that relates to Production HMI implementation.
  • System/Process integration experience in the electromechanical/mechatronic space.
  • Electrical schematic CAD experience using EPlan or similar.
  • Experience building cabinets that are NFPA79/NEC/UL508A compliant.
  • Field bus networks, serial communication and Ethernet communication.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment (vision systems, dispense systems, temperature controllers, laser engravers, NFC/RFID technologies, etc).
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience in fast-paced iterative design and manufacturing environments.
  • Experience solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team.

  • 10% travel (Domestic/International) may be required.
