Own power system design including charge and discharge architecture, system regulators, power distribution, and safety. Own battery design including cell, battery management system (BMS), and pack definition, certification, and validation. Design comprehensive power and battery test plans to characterize all required design parameters. Design and setup in-house test lab for battery pack testing. Write software scripts to control off-the-shelf and custom test equipment. Use strong communication (verbal and written) to work with other engineers and technicians to collect, review, analyze and present test data. Perform design reviews, failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), risk and failure analysis. Work with battery vendors to transfer design into production and implement best production processes and practices. Monitor the advancements in battery technology, processes and system on a chip (SOC) algorithms and advise the team accordingly. Build a strong business relationship with suppliers.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, plus 5 years of professional experience working in product development and design relating to automotive, aerospace, or transportation systems. Must also have the following: 5 years of professional experience performing product design relating to automotive, aerospace, or transportation systems; 3 years of professional experience applying electric vehicle (EV) standards and regulatory testing requirements/pass fail criteria when designing, analyzing, and/or testing of lithium-based battery systems (including modules, packs, and battery management systems); 3 years of professional experience in applying the areas of test definition, test set-up and execution; 3 years of professional experience working with high energy density battery cell design, characterization, and applications; 3 years of professional experience working with battery module/pack interconnection design, thermal management, and safety.
