Impact in this Role

The Business Operations and Strategy (BOS) team defines the future of Fictiv (an innovative leader in product manufacturing). BOS is the driving differentiator between traditional contract manufacturing and how Fictiv is disrupting and reducing the inefficiencies/prohibitive costs traditionally constraining new product development. The BOS team develops and implements strategic initiatives for Fictiv that remove inefficiencies and improve productivity by analyzing workflow impact for both the Operations team and key interfacing teams Finance, Sales, Engineering Architecture, and Customer Support.

The BOS Manager will report to and support the Director of the BOS team in moving the needle on strategic initiatives by delivering on key strategic milestones. Focused primarily on strategic sourcing and global logistics, costing and design for manufacturability (DFM), and order fulfillment and quality.

BOS is critical to Fictiv in achieving our stated objectives for the Series C funding by streamlining and automating workflows to massively decrease the time from design to delivery of parts, products and programs. This high impact global team is comprised of 10 experts spanning from Product Engineering and Manufacturing to Data Analysis to Systems Architecture and Data Integration located both in San Francisco and in Guangzhou China.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Generate system and process strategies to eliminate inefficiencies and help streamline critical process paths.
  • Identify inefficient systems processes through data analysis and qualitative user research
  • Work with the data analysts team to create data visualization dashboards on KPIs
  • Execute on cross-functional plans for initiatives, clearly and transparently communicating upwards and outwards
  • Collaborate closely with product, sales, finance, and engineering on the development, QA, and release of products to ensure a successful rollout across the entire organization
  • Partner with the fulfillment team to leverage learnings from existing part fabrication and simple assembly orders into actionable insights for complex builds for large bill of materials
  • Ad-hoc reporting on company performance in key focus areas
  • Identify and define partner network gaps to ensure Fictiv is equipped to expand to and fulfill orders in new geographies - Japan, Taiwan, Philippines
  • Collaborate with the strategic sourcing team and the business development team to ensure the manufacturing partners are available as we expand to new verticals
  • Partner with consultants and/or engineering teams to help assess and make decisions on critical business systems (ERP, PLM, PDM, etc).
  • Development of training materials and execute training for internal and external stakeholders during system and process implementation
  • Administer and manage corporate system configuration to meet business requirements
  • Perform business process gap-analysis on existing systems and processes and provide recommended solutions.
  • Assist the Director of BOS in defining business requirements, system validation, process documentation, and implementation of system enhancements.


Ideal Background

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Mechanical or Systems Engineering role.
  • Minimum 7 years experience implementing internal system & process optimization initiatives
  • Minimum 6 years people management experience leading a support operations and engineering teams.
  • Minimum 7 years experience with/in manufacturing factories (domestic + off-shore).
  • Minimum 7 years proven continuous improvement analytical experience from a similar role, including project management and business analysis with an excellent understanding of continuous improvement concepts.
  • Ability to set-up, facilitate and lead service improvement sessions with a range of business stakeholders (incl. experience of process/value stream mapping).
  • Demonstrated experience using Salesforce, Business Intelligence Platforms (Sigma, Tableau, etc.) and Python-based ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing PDM & PLM systems for engineering, manufacturing, and quality documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience performing live training sessions for internal and external stakeholders during system and process implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and managing corporate system configuration to meet business requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading and coordinating cross-functional initiatives.
  • Provide deep analytic support and business context to identify and drive critical growth initiatives.
