DevOps Advocate
PagerDuty is interviewing, onboarding, and working 100% virtually at this time. As we look to the future, we plan to be ‘distributed by design’, meaning unless your job requirements make it necessary to be in a PagerDuty office, you may choose to work in-office, remotely, or hybrid. We’re focused on inclusion and employee well-being by building a culture that isn’t location specific, and gives equal opportunity to everyone—regardless of where you are working.

About this Role
Are you a capable, experienced Ops practitioner with a passion towards managing and scaling infrastructure? Have you ever been on-call and had to wake up in the middle of the night to resolve a major incident? Are you ready to spread the DevOps gospel? If so, we invite you to hang up your on-call pager and travel the world (when it’s safe to do so!) to spread the word about PagerDuty.
We are looking for a technically-savvy, code-capable communicator to join our team. Your goal is to help Dev and Ops teams advance the practice of their craft and become more operationally mature, specifically on the breakdown of the silos to the customer, via customer service teams. You will do this through a combination of speaking, writing and coding. You will speak about important DevOps and Customer Service topics at various conferences, virtual events, and trade shows. You will author and publish a variety of useful content - articles, blog posts, videos, how-to's, podcasts, etc. This person will join a great team of Advocates to collaborate and work across teams in developing PagerDuty’s thought leadership portfolio, specifically for contemporary approaches to customer service and integrating customer service teams into DevOps approaches and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- You will collaborate with PD customers and industry thought leaders both at PD and in the broader DevOps and customer service community to form a deep understanding of where the future of our industry is going.
- You will champion our products in person and online by presenting at industry conferences, blogging, creating videos, writing technical tutorials, and a variety of other similar activities.
- You will help push the practice of DevOps forward, now integrating into customer service and support organizations, by creating resources and writing about important topics that are relevant to the DevOps and customer service communities.
- Evangelize our products and gather product, market and competitive intelligence, staying on top of emerging trends in our market and ecosystem - communicate your findings to our product team to inform our product strategy.
- You will represent the voice of the user back to our product team to make our products better, advocating on behalf of our community.
- You will be comfortable demonstrating our product and may design and deliver product demos to customers and potential customers, working in conjunction with Sales Engineering.
Requirements
- 4 years experience in ops, development, or customer service related software solutions or another role that gives you real-world experience with devops, automation, monitoring, and incident response and resolution.
- Passionate about groundbreaking technologies, with very strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Relevant experience presenting at technology conferences, blogging or writing technical articles with an existing follower base, or contributing to an open source project.
Additionally Welcome:
- Coding experience in 1-2 languages, high level of comfort writing scripts that leverage APIs.
Apply anyway! We extend opportunities to a broad array of candidates, including those with diverse workplace experiences and backgrounds. Whether you're new to the corporate world, returning to work after a gap in employment, or simply looking to transition or take the next step in your career path, we are excited to connect with you.
