Facebook is looking for a leader to manage a high-performing client-facing team of engineers. As a Director of Commerce, you will lead the commerce industry by building new solutions and enabling business partners to realize the full potential of those solutions while also leading and managing multiple global teams of Solutions Engineers. The Commerce teams within Solutions Engineering focus on building new experiences across multiple cross-functional teams and driving value for sellers, buyers, creators and technology partners. You will balance building a vision and inspiring a large team of Solutions Engineers, influencing cross-functional sales and product leadership, and people management. This role will allow you to apply technical problem-solving, leading and consulting clients and partners on creating and executing a business strategy, leading multiple teams of engineers, and growing their careers.

Director, Commerce, Solutions Engineering Responsibilities

  • Scale teams by attracting and mentoring people at various levels of experience to grow a diverse and inclusive, high performing org around business and team needs

  • Manage team(s)' performance, including coaching for career growth, and create a healthy org ensuring open communication throughout

  • Influence the roadmap and product development of Facebook Ads to meet our client's business challenges and align with Facebook's business objectives

  • Provide leadership and direction on prioritization to the org

  • Understand org health (engagement, retention, feedback) and effectively diagnose and solve complex issues spanning multiple teams to unblock execution

  • Influence, create, and drive strategies beyond your own team and function to innovate, take appropriate risks, and balance short, medium, and long-term needs

  • Ensure appropriate systems and processes are in place to support future org strategy and apply solutions to optimize across those systems

  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across and outside of Facebook and align them towards a vision

  • Create shared responsibilities across teams and hold the partners, themselves and organization accountable for execution

  • Define relevant (product, team, org) metrics or create new metrics, and reports trends and progress relative to goals

  • Identify unique problems and unlock opportunities through bespoke technology solutions that have an org or company-wide impact

  • Build internal community and external networks and communicate as the face of the function, product or discipline

  • Role model company values, culture, and ethical standards and hold teams to the same standard

  • Drive cross company initiatives, such as recruiting and Diversity & Inclusion, to have a broader impact

  • Willingness to travel 25% of the time

    Minimum Qualifications

    • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science

    • 12 or more years of experience with software engineering

    • 5 or more years of experience as an Engineering Manager

    • Proven experience building and shipping software products

    • Proven experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences

    • Experience in delivery of technology innovations in online commerce, product information management, shipping and fulfillment, customer relationship management and support

    • Proven track record of building and scaling products in the e-commerce space

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Experience contributing to open source projects, shared code repositories, and/or personal projects

      • Experience contributing to the development community via blogs, Stack Overflow, Quora, Slack, etc.

      • Experience leading multiple high-performing agile development teams

      • Creative technologist with a wide range of interests and a builder mentality, continuously creating new ways to improve solutions

      • Proven track record of having released software, hardware, or other products to the market based on their original engineering work

      • Proven track record of great ideas and even better execution with experience learning and applying new technologies quickly
