We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering who will build, grow, and lead engineers across multiple product initiatives and platforms. You’ll work closely with product, design, and data science to deliver a high quality technical platform that powers impactful.

You’ll partner closely with product, design, and data science teams to build and maintain a high quality technical platform that powers our apps and personalized health insights for our users.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Build, Manage, and Lead a Team of Full Stack Engineers:

  • Build, mentor and retain a team of distributed, exceptional software engineers
  • Lead and cultivate a DevOps culture focused on collective problem solving, ownership, and solving problems for our users
  • Work with your team to solve challenging problems, including:
    • Architecting solutions that scale and perform alongside our growth
    • Defining APIs and interfaces that ensure high data integrity
    • Implementing low-latency services that provide the foundations of a great user experience
    • Emphasize system security and user privacy
  • Participate in the full SDLC, including development, code reviews, testing and production
  • Help build and improve a great team culture:
    • Share your passion for learning and technical topics with your team and peers
    • Educate teams on concepts, architectures, and technologies used in the platform
    • Communicate technical and non-technical subject matter across the entire organization
    • Promote ownership, quality and responsibility in a collaborative environment
  • Use data to inform decisions and identify opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years or equivalent experience, managing web application development
  • Masters degree in computer science, or equivalent
  • Software Engineering background holding significant responsibility for the design and implementation of cloud-based, scalable software web applications
  • Familiarity with modern backend frameworks; Ruby on Rails experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS/JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks: React (or similar)
  • A demonstrated track record of hiring and managing teams 
  • Ability to execute with and manage shifting priorities, while maintaining excellence

  • RESTful frameworks
  • Cloud platforms (AWS or Google)
  • Content management and targeting systems
  • Product analytics and testing-optimization frameworks
  • Event-processing
