We're looking for a Director of Engineering to join Discover! Discover is Snap’s content platform and our vision is to make it the fastest way for our community to be entertained and informed. We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to help support our teams solving interesting technical challenges, building world-class experiences in Snapchat and maintaining software and a content platform used by millions every day. Working from our San Francisco office, you’ll manage teams in San Francisco, Los Angeles and London collaborate with leaders and executives across Snap to deliver the highest quality for our product.
What you'll do:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Discover Engineering team across multiple offices
Actively participate as a member of the Snap Engineering and Discover leadership teams
Develop organizational-level goals and drive the technical and organizational roadmap for the Discover engineering team
Collaborate with Design, Product and Engineering teams distributed across multiple offices
Build and grow a team of exceptional software engineers and technical leaders
Influence key decisions on architecture and implementation of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions
Mentor a team of engineering managers and senior independent contributors
Iterate quickly without compromising quality and raise the bar on operational excellence
Minimum qualifications:
BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience
12+ years of software engineering experience
6+ years of experience managing a team
Preferred qualifications:
Demonstrated experience leading a large team at scale and managing engineering with an eye to driving efficiency
Previous experience partnering with cross-functional executives and management across a globally distributed organization
Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-site, multi-stakeholder environments
Deep knowledge of and experience working with a diverse group of engineers
Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-site, multi-stakeholder environments
Someone who loves to learn, and is passionate about helping others
Experience with mobile apps development
Experience with Machine Learning
Experience with distributed systems and Big-Data infrastructure
Experience with content and media platforms
