About the Role

We are looking for an electrical engineer to help us make the best possible scooters. You will be responsible for developing new features and new scooters. You will work on everything from the main scooter controller, to the power train, to equipment to support the scooters on the streets and in our warehouses. Come up with ideas for making the scooters better and then make them a reality!

Our team consists of people that are passionate about creating finely polished and intuitive experiences and, at the same time, obsess over performance and reliability of what we build. We challenge the status quo and strive towards finding the best way to solve problems.

We work in very small groups to keep processes and overhead low, so we have a lot of trust and accountability to perform the work required to build the best product.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop electronics for SPIN’s electric scooters
  • Collaborate with firmware and mechanical engineers to develop scooter controls and scooter peripherals 
  • Bring products through certification testing
  • Take projects from concept to full deployment
  • Imagine and then create new system features
  • Manage schematic capture and PCBA layout of all prototype electronics.
  • Work with suppliers to develop SOWs for custom components to be integrated into scooters
  • Evaluate design solutions as well as perform electronics functional tests.
  • Work with other Electrical, Mechanical, and Validation Engineers in analysis, investigation, and resolution of supplier-related engineering problems.
  • Support the development of supplier specifications and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • Excitement about working in micro-mobility
  • 4 - 6 years of experience
  • Experienced using Altium
  • Experience with digital and analog design
  • Experience with testing and validation
  • Experience with PCB bringup and debugging
  • Experience with ARM architecture
  • Design for manufacturability (DFM) & design for test (DFT)
  • Ability to do PCB layout
  • Experience with UART, I2C, SPI, and CANbus communications
  • Experience with FCC, CE, UL regulatory bodies and requirements
  • Experience with Li-ion batteries
  • Experience with oscilloscope and signal generator

Bonus points: 

  • Familiarity with antenna design
  • Design experience with motors, motor controllers, power supplies, inverters/converters, and power electronics
