We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Ledger team, which is the foundation for Affirm’s financial operations, providing the system of record for all of Affirm’s pay over time products. The team is highly cross-functional, and is involved in almost every significant feature and product launch at Affirm. The team’s work is used for accounting; capital markets reporting; merchant disbursements; investor cash movements; and loan servicing.
We are experiencing strong growth for our pay over time products, and we want you to guide the team to scale our products and processes by 10x and beyond, partner with Accounting to satisfy ever tighter correctness and timeliness requirements, and add new features to make our products even more compelling and accessible to more people.

What you'll do
- Leading, mentoring, and growing a product engineering team responsible for Affirm’s core product offering.
- Scaling our system of record by 10x and beyond to keep up with the rapid growth of our business.
- Automating and scaling Affirm’s business processes through close partnership with the Accounting team.
- Providing self-service access for partner teams to data in the system of record.
- Meaningfully affecting Affirm’s top line growth by building new features and financial products.
What we look for
- Drive to change consumer financial services for the better.
- Prior experience growing and managing an engineering team.
- Fluency in back end development.
- Prior experience architecting, building, launching and maintaining complex products.
- Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to hire and build teams.
- Prior experience with consumer finance products, accounting, or ledger systems a plus.
Location
We’re excited to announce that Affirm is now a remote-first company! The majority of our roles can be accomplished anywhere in the U.S. and Canada (with the exception of Quebec). While most Affirmers will have the option to choose a remote-first accommodation, our offices in San Francisco, New York City, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Salt Lake City will remain operational and accessible for anyone to use on a voluntary basis. This role requires your physical presence in the office on a regular basis.
