About The Role
The HRIS engineering team supports the core HRIS product at Rippling. The team works to support the core employee record which powers each employee’s identity within Rippling. The foundation upon which other engineering teams within Rippling build their products and features. Additionally, the team builds and maintains the products that manage both the employee life cycle and company life cycle, which includes hiring, termination, transitions, employee onboarding/offboarding, company onboarding/offboarding, and company management. Every Rippling customer uses the core HRIS product.
We're looking for an Engineering Manager who is excited to build and grow this core product of the Rippling suite. The ideal candidate can understand and work in a complicated system with many downstream effects, can coach and mentor a team with varying experience, and can grow a team sustainably and efficiently as Rippling’s engineering scales.
What You'll Do:
This is a player coach role where you will be expected to do hands on coding
Work with engineers and other engineering leaders at Rippling to understand opportunities to better leverage core employee record as a platform for all products within the company
Support the engineering team to build a system with a high level of technical quality, reliability, and ease-of-use
Develop and mentor the team
Recruit great engineers and build the team, in collaboration with the recruiting team
Support the team’s day-to-day work with design and product
Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Rippling’s engineering management team
Qualifications:
2+ years experience managing teams of 3+ engineers
5+ years experience in software engineering roles
Strong hands on coding, design, and architectural skills
Expertise building complex, distributed systems
Strong CS knowledge
Empathetic
User-focused
