About the role
Your mission will be to build out Render's infrastructure team as part of our rapidly growing engineering organization. You will report to our Vice President of Engineering, Uma Chingunde. By joining Render as one of our first engineering leaders you will play a pivotal role in our growth and will have your pick of opportunities to scale with the company.
Render customers have created hundreds of thousands of services on our platform, and the numbers continue to accelerate. Our customers trust us to deliver a secure, reliable and performant cloud — this is our top priority as a company and your team will help us deliver this. You will make decisions that will drive our product and company, directly impacting developers around the globe.
You will:
- Lead the team that owns Render's core infrastructure across multiple data centers and regions.
- Hire, develop, and support talented infrastructure engineers at Render.
- Foster a collaborative and healthy work environment that is both nurturing and challenging.
- Set clear goals and directions and provide regular feedback to your team.
- Work closely with product and design to set the direction for your team and empower them to execute on an ambitious set of projects. You can see our user-driven public roadmap here.
You are a great fit for this role if:
- You have led and managed infrastructure, security or reliability focused engineering teams for at least 2 years.
- You are deeply technical and excited about the future of cloud infrastructure.
- You rely on your leadership skills to support your team's development instead of making technical decisions for them.
- You help your team by exploring architecture tradeoffs, reviewing designs and facilitating technical discussions and decisions.
- You place emphasis on diversity and inclusion and are committed to building healthy teams with varying backgrounds and perspectives.
- You are great at attracting, developing and growing talented engineers.
- You are comfortable with the tradeoffs and ambiguity inherent in fast growing early-stage startups.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience building teams at fast growing startups, particularly those operating in a rapid changing environment.
- Technical experience with developer-facing products as an engineer or manager.
