Voyage is delivering on the promise of self-driving cars.

Voyage has built the technology and services to bring autonomous transportation to those who need it most, beginning in retirement communities. Whether residents face mobility restrictions or just want to take a ride, Voyage takes pride in getting all our passengers to their destination safely, efficiently, and affordably. Our journey begins in calmer communities, but we won't stop until anyone, anywhere can summon a Voyage.

As the Engineering Manager on the Perception team, you will be responsible for managing and growing the team responsible for computer vision and tracking. Our computer vision models work with lidar and camera data and are state-of-the-art approaches using deep learning for detection, classification, segmentation, and understanding of the scene. The perception team’s responsibilities include processing the sensor data to give object tracks, classes, and future trajectories.

In addition the team is responsible for pushing the state-of-the-art to pursue more data-driven methods across the rest of the self-driving car stack (decision-making, planning, and control). The perception team is one of the most important and critical teams in our company and the engineering manager will have a lot of influence over the technical direction of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow the Perception team with the best talent around the world
  • Lead the execution of team deliverables, organize team sprint meetings, and work with the team to achieve the goals of our technical roadmap
  • Set technical direction with the team, anticipate strategic and scaling-relating challenges
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams working on components across Platform, Autonomy, and Infrastructure
  • Enable a healthy and collaborative engineering team culture and be a role model by demonstrating Voyage’s core values towards our mission
  • Mentor, coach and grow team members and support them in their career growth
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure your team delivers high quality systems that are well tested and validated. Support thinking about technical debt versus the pace of progress

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience managing a team with some of the best talent around the world
  • Technical background and hands-on software engineering experience in complex, production-quality C++ and Python
  • Background in one or more of the following areas: deep learning (PyTorch, TensorFlow), machine learning, GPU inference, tools and infrastructure for machine learning at scale
  • Experience building and shipping a robotics product is a huge plus

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. Women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ community, individuals with disabilities, and veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.
