We strive to provide a path for motivated individuals to grow and thrive as software engineers in this multidisciplinary space united by a common mission. Individuals in this role will work with dedicated mentors on a broad array of software systems and UI/UX projects ranging from automating the lab to large scale data processing.

As a front-end software engineer, you'll have the opportunity to develop or pivot into your software development career with tailored support and mentorship. We recognize the value of diverse professional backgrounds and how that could shape the future of talent. We pride ourselves on recognizing that quality and operational excellence are our foundation and responsibility.

Each and every engineer takes ownership of the quality of our systems: from design, implementation, testing and finally to production. Through directed mentorship, individuals in this program will learn about writing software in a highly regulated environment while continuously improving our platform.

You Will Be:

  • Improve existing sequencing analysis software user interfaces
  • Build new features to our clinical laboratory software based on requests from the clinical lab
  • Improve our test suite for UI components
  • Help create test reports for new projects
  • Deep dive into user experience and optimizing information flow for end users

Your Background Should Include:

  • Not a traditional Computer Science graduate
  • Passionate about biotech and GRAIL’s mission, no experience required
  • UI/UX coding academy graduate, software development bootcamp or certification graduate, Bachelor's degree in STEM, or equivalent experience
  • Experience contributing to software projects, requirements gathering, and working with other engineers and product managers in a collaborative environment
  • Experience working with Javascript and React
  • Thrives in working in between the seams of multidisciplinary organizations and has high interest in creating a supportive, collaborative environment
  • Adaptable to different working environments and teams with willingness to learn new techniques and teach others
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Are a motivated leader with focus on continuous self-improvement

This opportunity is for motivated individuals looking to kick start their software careers or individuals looking to pivot their professional careers into a software focused role. We welcome candidates of all backgrounds and at any point in their career, especially those interested in working cross functionally with end users and non-engineering partners. This role is not intended for candidates with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science.
