The Team

At Torch, we are looking for a talented Software Engineer who has experience developing web or mobile systems from the ground up and is passionate about doing work that matters. 

The Software Engineer will collaborate with the Product Team to design, build creative solutions, and enable our clients’ personal growth. Additionally, you will partner with the rest of the engineering team to create a scalable, high-performance, media-rich web application for consumption across various device form factors.

Your Position:

• You will work primarily on full-stack and create reusable components with modern, maintainable, and testable code.
• You will identify opportunities for rapid innovation using PaaS or Open Source components wherever possible.
• You will take part in peer code review processes.
• You will design and communicate coding standards and contribute to the architecture plan.
• You will become a contributor to various technology communities and meetups.

Your Experience:

• You have server-side programming skills with a modern language, preferably Ruby on Rails. Python, Java, or C# experience is a plus, not mandatory.
• You have experience with ES6 (preferably using React/Redux) and Unit Testing.
• You have experience with several database technologies (both RDBMS & NoSQL).
• You have expert knowledge of CSS styling and layouts.
• You have experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS, Containers, and Serverless is a plus, not mandatory.
• You know RESTful web services.
• You know distributed application design patterns and asynchronous programming models.
• You have familiarity with front-end and back-end performance optimization techniques.
• You have a degree in Computer Science, a related STEM field, or equivalent professional experience.
