As a generalist in Applications Engineering at Standard Cognition, you’ll be a Full-stack Engineer, responsible for building the apps, tools, and other interfaces that enable retailers, shoppers, and internal users to interact with our systems. You will build and refine these critical interactions by working with backend and data engineers to design and build APIs, and with the product team to define delightful experiences. Our applications are deployed both globally and to a diverse range of user roles and customer types and you’ll be solving localization challenges—not just in language, but also around user expectations and retail environment differences. There are massive changes happening in retail and we’re eagerly building the future.

This is a full time role located onsite at our San Francisco office. 

What you'll do here:

• Build and refine many web and mobile applications for a wide range of internal and external user roles
• Be a part of ensuring our application code is flexible, maintainable, testable, and reliable
• Build out robust APIs for our application needs using our core platform
• Quickly iterate and test experimental tools to solve real user problems
• Work closely with machine learning, design, product, and other teams to make sure we’re building the right tools and experiences for our users

Who you are:

• You have 3+ years experience building complex software in a team environment.
• Experience writing service code for the specific APIs your applications need (we use Python, but if your experience is something else, that’s ok!) with a good understanding of SQL and other database technologies.
• You’re a master at web technologies and have built interactive and dynamic web applications (we use React and React Native). You love building user-friendly, well-designed interfaces for a variety of audiences and abilities.
• You’re happy to engage with other developers through code review, design discussions, and more.
