The ideal candidate is passionate about data technology, especially Cassandra and Couchbase. Our goal is to provide service to application teams when they have questions and concerns about data services, so your knowledge and excitement in this area is crucial. Since we aim to automate as much as possible, a strong knowledge of Linux System Administration, experience with scripting languages (like Bash or Python), and familiarity with deployment technologies such as CloudFormation and Chef are highly desirable.

Your ability to collaborate and communicate effectively and persuasively with other teams within the project will also be important. It’s needed to promote the use of best practices and push the use of our own tools to other teams so that the trajectory of harmony within project Network always points toward perfection.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Be key member of the CloudOps/Data Platform team and help support our mission critical data related services, automating everything possible
  • Build back-end micro-services to manage our data services and become an expert in at least one of the technologies we use
  • Work closely with stakeholders and developers to design, engineer and maintain highly available services; work with other team members to design and implement maintainable, well tested and well-designed features

WHAT YOU HAVE

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a high availability data center environment serving large web services
  • Previous knowledge either as a developer or as an operations engineer of Cassandra. Knowledge of other technologies such as Aerospike, ElasticSearch, Solr, and/or Couchbase is desired
  • Ability to optimize and create performant DB queries
  • Experience with Git and code coverage tools; DevOps and/or Chef & CloudFormation experience a huge plus. Experience with Jenkins will be beneficial for this role
  • Experience in Go or Java
  • Knowledge of Amazon’s Cloud Service (AWS)
