- Architect and implement forwarding plane
- Design forwarding engine using analytics data
- Design a highly available system to minimize failover time
- Diagnose and fix issues found in our customer networks
As a Lead Forwarding Plane Engineer, you will:
- Be responsible for architecting a forwarding plane that is reliable, simple, scalable, and meets the performance of our products.
- Collaborate with customers and product management to gather requirements to innovate our architecture.
- Have the opportunity to work across teams to design forwarding plane that works across functions.
We are looking for:
- Must have a proven history in architect and deliver forwarding plan for highly available distributed systems
- Comprehensive understanding in forwarding behavior from end to end
- Detailed understanding of routing architecture such as RIB, FIB, and Interface Management
- In-depth knowledge of common protocols in OSI layers 3 through 7 (IPv4/6, IPSec, TCP/UDP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP)
- Proficient in the concept of NAT and VPN
- Effective communication skills and a strong ability to collaborate with others
- 5+ years of experience writing professional production code in C/C++
- Experience developing and solving problems in Linux environments
- Ability to flourish within a small engineering team and are excited to tackle open-ended problems
- Ability to strive to build rich and dynamic features by expanding current tools or by crafting entirely new components
- Experience and desire to expertly work beyond the boundary of single languages or technologies to identify complex bugs
Bonus points for:
- In-depth understanding of OSPF, BGP, and MPLS routing protocol and their features
- Good understanding of SDWAN
- Have a solid understanding of cloud architecture, and highly available distributed system
- Experience in Design a system that using analytics data
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and modern database
- An understanding of NETCONF, NetFlow, and SNMP
