At Volta, we’re on a mission to accelerate the adoption of the electric vehicle. Volta creates city-wide free electric vehicle charging networks in major metropolitan areas. Our charging networks are free-to-use, free to our property partners, and monetized through brand sponsorships and digital media content.

For this role, you will own services running in the cloud and on the web. These services will do everything from ingesting data to exposing it on a variety of interfaces like our internal web application and automated reporting mechanisms.

We are looking for an engineer to champion our Mobile Platform by architecting new ways for drivers to interact with our stations and each other. You will join as a lead for two other full-time Software Engineers who are passionate about our mission and experienced with our technologies. Our React Native application has grown to be a focus of the company and we are excited to add a leading team member such as yourself to help us scale its success.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work directly in the codebase of our React Native mobile application
• Design and implement new strategies for testing and deploying our application
• Handle technical management responsibilities for the Mobile Platform team
• Help prioritize feature development with the Product team
• Ideate with other teams in the organization; express technical challenges to non-technical colleagues
• Document and share learned technologies and novel solutions used on the job

QUALIFICATIONS

• A passionate engineer with attention to detail and desire to delight their users
• High ambitions for writing beautiful applications and code
• Comfortable diving into native iOS and Android source code and possessing a deep understanding of how technologies are implemented
• Fascinated by green technologies and transportation
• Ability to coordinate work for team members and mentor junior and mid-level Software Engineers
• An advocate for strong design principles like loose-coupling and secure-by-design
• Adhering to good development practices such as testing and automation
• Familiar with React Native
• 5+ years of mobile development experience
• 3+ years of native Android experience
• 3+ years of native iOS experience
• Degree in Computer Science or demonstrable knowledge of the field
