Team Overview

At our CrowdStar studio at EA/Glu Mobile, we believe that there is a huge opportunity in interactive entertainment products for women. With our successful mobile game titles, Covet Fashion and Design Home, CrowdStar has developed new ways for users (players) to enjoy fashion and interior design. As a team, we are passionate not only about creating fun and engaging games for women but enriching lives outside of the game.


Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate engineering manager to join our team. As a Manager, Software Engineering, you will partake in the process of creating some of the most innovative games for our demographic. Your games will be played by millions of people around the world! CrowdStar’s software engineers are willing to pick up any of the languages, technologies, or methodologies necessary to smite a challenge – and if a conventional solution doesn’t exist, they innovate as necessary. Our managers are hands on, and are expected to spend some of their time coding but will mostly be reviewing code of your team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of C++ engineers to deliver on their commitments each sprint
  • Mentor and grow the client engineering team
  • Interact with stakeholders to gather requirements
  • Oversee technical designs
  • Develop high-quality systems/features on our mobile games
  • Develop and implement client/server communications
  • Profile and optimize existing code
  • Write tests for all your written code
  • Implement and maintain third-party systems
  • Constantly communicate with team members

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience building iOS/Android applications in a fast-paced environment with short project deadlines
  • Strong C++ experience
  • Interaction with server side APIsCocos2d-x preferred
  • One or more fundamental game technologies such as graphics, sound, AI are a big plus
  • Building Android applications is a plus, 1+ games or applications published
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional teamwork and problem-solving skills, flexibility, and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Experience managing offshore teams is a bonus (your main team will be located in our SF HQ)
  • Passionate about building games that will be played by millions around the world
  • Fun positive attitude and mobile games or games experience required
  • Bachelor’s/Master's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science, and at least 5 years work experience and two years managing a team

Our office is right across the street from Moscone Center West, just minutes from the BART station and 4th + King Caltrain with shuttle service.
