As a Mechanical Engineer, FEA, you will be responsible for structural modeling, testing, and characterization of high-performance computing systems from package to system-level. 

Minimum qualifications

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Material Science, Physics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of direct hands-on experience in mechanical modeling in a related high-tech industry
  • Hands-on experience with major FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, Hypermesh, or similar)
  • Experience using FEA in modeling of microelectronics packaging, interconnect/socket, and board-/system-level
  • Good knowledge of semiconductor processing, packaging techniques and materials, and server design
  • Familiarity with modeling reliability of socket and microelectronics packaging
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment

Preferred qualifications

  • MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Material Science, Physics, or a related field
  • 10+ years of direct hands-on experience in mechanical modeling in a related high-tech industry
  • Expert knowledge of major structural FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, Hypermesh, or similar)
  • Experience in a holistic package-, socket-, and system-level mechanical analysis
  • In-depth knowledge in mechanical modeling of advanced packaging, interconnect/socket, board-/system-level
  • Experience modeling reliability of socket and microelectronics packaging
  • Understanding of microelectronics reliability testing
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present ideas, design concepts, data, and plans clearly and efficiently

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Numerical modeling of server systems to provide comprehensive understanding of package-socket-board interactions to ensure good device yield and reliability
  • Package/system mechanical design, from concept to detailed design to manufacturing bring-up
  • Work with package and system board engineers on simulation models for mechanical solutions
  • Work with internal teams to evaluate and provide guidance to support mechanical, reliability, and cost constraints
  • Create guidelines, documentation, and tools to support design success
