Ike's mission is to make trucks safer, truckers more valued, and trucking more efficient. We are bringing together the world’s leading experts in transportation and robotics to transform the way the world moves and build a real commercial product at scale.

About Your Team

The hardware engineering team is responsible for developing the mechanical, electrical, and software components that integrate self-driving technology (sensors, computers, actuators) onto trucks. We ensure that the self driving hardware added to the trucks is safe, reliable, and provides the functionality needed for autonomous operation.

About Your Role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for a robotic vehicle platform.

About Your Work

  • Work closely with autonomy software and systems engineering teams to define and translate perception, planning, and control requirements into hardware specifications
  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies used to integrate self driving hardware (sensors, computers) onto vehicle platforms
  • Design around thermal, shock/vibration, and environmental challenges
  • Help rapidly prototype new concepts for industrial design, structures, and UX
  • Track design issues and complete trade-off studies involving weight, cost, timeline, manufacturability, etc.
  • Support vehicle builds
  • Manage suppliers and external partners

About You

  • You are currently a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree candidate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or related field graduating before or during summer 2020
  • You are excited about product development in all of its stages - from requirements to scoping to launch to iteration
  • You are comfortable in the earlier stages of product development - in getting from zero to one
  • CAD design experience, such as SolidWorks, CATIA, and/or NX
  • Ability to writing concise, clear, and detailed engineering documentation
  • Hands on. You are just as comfortable in a machine shop as you are at a CAD workstation.

Nice to haves

  • Understanding of vehicle crash safety, vehicle dynamics and NVH principles
  • Experience in structural and vibration analysis, and performance and durability testing
  • Experience with vehicle chassis, actuation and/or propulsion systems
