As a Post Silicon Validation Engineer with a focus on ARM SoC components targeted at the data center, you will work to verify the internal blocks and complexities of our SoC system and architect the required IP validation strategy. You will help set up methodologies, come up with validation plans, and verify that the newly arrived silicon meets the highest quality standards. You will also participate in architecture/product definition for the next generation of SoC by closing the loop with real silicon validation.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • 5 to 10+ years of practical experience in post silicon validation of SoCs
  • Strong programming/scripting skills (C/C++, Python, Ruby, Perl, Tcl scripts)
  • Extensive experience in digital logic / platform design, verification, or post-silicon verification
  • Extensive experience in ASIC debug techniques and methodologies
  • Extensive experience in board / platform-level debug, including power delivery and sequencing, clock delivery, silicon failure analysis and power measurement
  • Extensive experience in physical and protocol levels of common high speed SERDES interfaces
  • Extensive experience in modern lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes
  • Extensive experience in computer hardware and architecture (experience with datacenter servers a plus)
  • Strong analytical skills for test creation and debug
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Must excel in a dynamic team working environment
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to independently drive tasks to completion
  • Leadership and mentoring skills a definite asset

Preferred qualifications

  • 15 years of practical experience in validating new silicon, such as untested SoC
  • Proven experience in SoC interfaces and protocols relating to PCIE, DRAM, coherent socket to socket interfaces and related protocols is a strong asset
  • Experience in silicon that is destined for the data center
  • Knowledge and experience in ARM v8 and v9 specifications
  • Solid grasp of ARM SoC concepts and architecture specifications like SMMU, GIC, Coresight and Timer architectures
  • Knowledge of ARM platform architecture specifications like SBSA, SBMR and SBSG

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Define and execute end-to-end validation plans for a set of NUVIA IP (verification, functional, characterization, integration, stress)
  • Debug issues found during pre-silicon, bring-up, validation, and production phases of SOC programs
  • Build a validation strategy that aligns with server-class compliance standards
  • Lead collaborative test approach with multiple teams, and tracking test execution to make sure all features are validated and optimized on time
  • Work closely with supporting teams in design, diagnostics, emulation, firmware, design verification and software to ensure readiness for first silicon arrival, enablement of IP functionality upon silicon arrival, and debug of critical features
  • Develop deep knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy
  • Drive technical innovation to enhance capabilities in IP validation including tools and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives
  • Support on customer platforms as requested by customer support teams.
