We are seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative Process Engineering Manager to join our Factory Systems team. 

You Will:

  • Manage process and quality performance, address spikes and defects trends, perform root-cause analysis and collaborate with other departments to implement corrective actions aimed at eliminating waste.
  • Proactively manage line capacity needs by applying Theory of Constraint principles, bottleneck analysis, time studies and process/layout flows.
  • Drive process and quality improvement initiatives to meet set quality, delivery and utilization goals by applying Lean, Six Sigma or DMAIC principles.
  • Define and standardize manufacturing assembly processes, including programming for SMT assembly equipment such as solder paste printing, solder paste inspection, pick & place, reflow oven and selective wave.
  • Own new process capabilities or equipment enablement through detailed research, analysis, installation, qualifications (IQ/OQ/PQ) and perform validation reports. 
  • Promote best-in-industry practices and establish a collaborative working relationship with other departments.
  • Support Manufacturing, Sales, Product, and Operations teams with technical questions and issue resolution.
  • Partner closely with Quality teams to ensure all QMS requirements are met.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and collaborate with Production and Planning teams to ensure high equipment and staff utilization.
  • Design/Define DOE and Test Vehicle, in partnership with DFM team, to optimize manufacturing processes, solve manufacturing issues, and prove process capabilities.
  • Analyze and guide the purchase of specialized tooling, materials or components to ensure specifications, regulatory requirements and quality standards are met.
  • Be responsible for responding to and appropriately handling production line maintenance, machine calibrations and mechanical emergencies.
  • Interview, hire, and train process engineers and technicians.
  • Be responsible for planning, assigning, and directing process work.
  • Evaluate performance and manage employee growth.
  • Assist and report on work assignments, equipment status, production schedules, and anticipated delays.
  • Time is spent on the manufacturing floor with some administrative and general office duties.
  • Typically works full time during regular scheduled hours but will need to be reasonably available after hours and on-call when necessary.

You Must Have:

  • 5+ years of department leadership experience.
  • 10 years facility and relevant work experience on the latest PCBA industry technology for SMT, PTH, press-fit, polymerics, and testing.
  • Hands-on experience using KIC, ECD or similar reflow profiling tools
  • Leading DOE or test vehicle projects to resolve complex issues
  • Knowledge of IPC-610, IPC-600, IPC-7711/21, ANSI/ESD 20.20, J-STD-001 and J-STD-033.
  • Understands documentation requirements for ISO-9001, ISO-13485, AS9100.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements.
  • Experience defining and designing metrics to meet departmental and company goals.
  • Proven track record of nurturing a team into a quality-driven, effective machine.

Nice to Have:

  • Current certification for IPC-610, ANSI/ESD 20.20, J-STD-001+Space Addendum
  • Familiarity with CAD software: Altium, Cadence, Eagle, ODB++ and Valor.
  • The ability to read a circuit schematic and X-ray operations.
  • Black belt certification in Six Sigma or Lean
  • Develop value stream maps and utilize lean principles to drive efficiencies
  • Analyze manufacturing data and lead process improvements to accomplish industry-leading performance.
  • Experience in PCBA testing: hipot, flying probe, ICT and functional.
