The Curriculum (Your Role):

As a QA Automation Engineer on our Schools & Admins team, you’ll oversee the planning, development, and execution of automated and manual test suites for new features. You will create a meaningful impact on our team by implementing automation strategies that help us ship with confidence and speed. Your role will be crucial to delivering a high quality product and top notch experience to school administrators who support millions of students in their growth and learning.


Your Classmates (The Team):

The Schools & Admins team ensures schools, districts, and administrators can successfully implement Seesaw school-wide as their platform for teaching, learning, and communication. This includes all aspects of Seesaw’s paid product for schools and districts such as the setup experience, rostering services, the school/district-wide content library, and more. We're also a small and collaborative team so you'll have plenty of opportunities to work closely with all other engineers, PMs, and Designers on our broader product and engineering team.

Subject Matter (Your Responsibilities):

  • Design and implement maintainable test automation solutions that reduce functional regression testing time and enable developers to better test their code. The automation coverage will at the functional, integration, API, and backend layer of our app.
  • Collaborate with engineers to analyze test failures and continuously improve the robustness of existing test suites.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our schools and districts product, in particular critical setup, implementation, and management features for district and school administrators. 
  • Advocate for best engineering quality practices and foster a culture of pride around delivering quality software.
  • Work closely with the product team to develop and execute test strategies for new features and functionality.

Prerequisites (The Requirements):

  • Have a strong understanding of QA automation architecture, methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • 5+ years of experience working with test automation framework and is comfortable with writing automation scripts (API, integration, and UI). The best candidates will have built, deployed, and maintained automation frameworks for unit tests, integration tests, and e2e tests.
  • Prior experience with API and integration testing strongly preferred as you will be expanding automation coverage for our district setup experience and rostering services.
  • Direct experience in building and maintaining test suites with intricate test data setup.
  • You take ownership of initiatives and make pragmatic technical decisions.
  • Nice to have: you are excited to solve open-ended problems across the stack, especially ones that will improve our testing effectiveness, capabilities, and coverage.
