Role Description

The Localization team helps bring the Dropbox experience to users worldwide. To support our users outside of the United States, we partner with teams across the company to strategize on, plan for, and produce localized content. We are responsible for translating and bringing to life the Dropbox style, tone, and voice for users in 21 languages, across 200+ countries and territories.

The Localization QA will collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure that translated content is completed with the highest quality. The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to work autonomously. You will also need to successfully work with technical and non-technical people alike, and have a desire to learn new tools, processes, and concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and evolve formal QA processes, ensuring that the team is using industry-accepted best practices.
  • Oversee all aspects of quality assurance, including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met.
  • Act as a key point of contact for all QA aspects of international releases, providing and executing solid test plans and acting on results.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse teams, with both experts and novices, in technical and non-technical roles.
  • Lead international QA activities as well as manage outside contract testers.
  • Diagnose defects and track them from discovery to resolution.
  • Communicate to higher management, using Jira dashboard and regular statuses regarding triage, prioritization, and bug resolution progress.
  • Partner with engineering teams to stay informed of new technologies being introduced and ensure that system components are designed for testability.
  • Respond to all requests from team members in a timely, professional manner.
  • Attention to details with the ability to deliver solid work on a tight schedule.

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience in the software quality field including prior hands-on quality engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing test cases, scripts, plans, and procedures to support various development methodologies
  • Familiarity with entire software development life cycle and test cycles (Unit, Regression, Functional, Systems, Stress & Scale, Smoke & Sanity)
  • Understanding of existing QA best practices and methodologies to design, implement and automate processes
  • Experience coordinating with external QA resources
  • Prior success using a metrics-driven approach and closed-loop feedback to improve software deliverables and improve predictability and reliability of releases
  • Detailed and effective written communication skills for documenting the features tested and bugs found
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, extremely responsive, and able to prioritize a large number of tasks
  • Self-motivated, work well independently and with others

Preferred Requirements

  • Interest and background in translation, internationalization, localization, and international markets
  • Experience with one of the i18n libraries in any programming language
  • Knowledge around international standards like Unicode, CLDR, and ICU
  • Native-level fluency skills in one or more foreign languages
  • A track record of shipping products
