About Your Team

The Systems Engineering team is responsible for the architecture, integration and validation of autonomous driving capabilities across engineering disciplines. Systems Engineering works at the intersection of hardware and software with deep expertise in both.

About Your Role

The Radar Systems Engineer is responsible for deriving and validating radar requirements, supplier evaluation and engagement, and system integration of radar sensors onto the vehicle platform.

About Your Work

• Drive trade studies, sensitivity analyses, and sensor characterization to validate radar requirements 
• Develop algorithms to validate the online and offline performance of the radar system
• Work closely with external sensor suppliers to track product roadmaps, evaluate prototype devices, and communicate feature requests 
• Work with the hardware team to iterate on sensor placement, environmental requirements and interface requirements
• Work with the software team to continue to improve intrinsic and extrinsic radar calibration

About You

• A deep familiarity with automotive radar, beam-forming radar, and synthetic aperture radar
• A deep familiarity with radar signal processing chains, including clutter suppression, Fourier analysis, object tracking, RCS estimation, etc.
• Experience with radar system integration, including mechanical interfaces, time synchronization, fascia integration, mutual interference, and sidelobe coupling
• Experience writing concise, clear, and detailed engineering documentation including block diagrams, state diagrams, and engineering requirements 
• Experience designing, executing, and documenting trade studies and sensitivity analyses
• Experience with data analysis and algorithm development in Matlab, Python, or R

Nice to haves

• Familiarity with microwave frontend design
• Working knowledge of self-driving system software architectures
