Senior Design Systems Engineer (Contract)

We’re looking for a design-minded engineer to help us simplify IT! As a Design Systems Engineer at Meraki, you will be responsible for shipping a system that powers our products and impact millions of people's devices around the world. Collaborating with other engineers, designers, and researchers, you will develop and implement component libraries, tools, and other foundational frameworks.
In this role, you will help design, build, and implement the design system for Meraki's Dashboard - the main window to the Meraki experience. You will work with other developers, UX designers, and product management to build and improve the Dashboard web application.
YOU WILL...
- Build and implement a design system for Meraki's main product, the Dashboard, by constructing components and contributing to the system’s architectural decisions
- Bring an engineering perspective to the process to voice issues with feasibility and call out missed edge-cases
- Educate and advocate for systems-based design/engineering
- Improve performance and efficiency of our front end, allowing us to handle increasingly large datasets with minimal delay
- Craft data visualizations to intuitively display the performance of different networks and applications
QUALIFICATIONS...
- 5+ years of proven ability writing professional, consumer-grade production code
- Experience building rich and dynamic web applications with React and Redux with a strong understanding of its standard methodologies
- Familiar and comfortable integrating with third-party APIs and JavaScript libraries
- Design-minded approach and a phenomenal eye for detail
- Excellent at working with and updating a living document (e.g., style guide), as well as writing clear, explicit documentation
- Strong communication skills and an ability to work cross-functionally
