About this Opportunity

We’re looking for an Engineer to join the team that builds the systems and services that deliver Zumper. You’ll help our software engineering team deliver faster, better and more consistently. Together we will craft the Zumper platform that millions of renters and landlords depend on every month in their apartment-finding!

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include learning, architecting and implementing infrastructure solutions, software delivery automations and other improvements to our software delivery pipeline, helping the engineering team be as efficient and effective as possible.

Every quarter we have the opportunity to collaborate with people from across the company to explore new ideas, tackle ambitious concepts, and innovate in our multi-day hackathon. We have a proven track record of shipping over 50% of our hackathon projects to our customers!

Responsibilities

• Help drive the platform powering Zumper into the future
• Development and maintenance of cloud-hosted platform running Zumper’s APIs, website and internal tooling
• Help our engineers instrument our products and platform
• On-call application support

Who You Are



The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator that is able to collaborate closely with internal partners on a broad range of technical topics. This candidate is both an enthusiastic learner and teacher with a passion for solving problems while delivering value to our company and partners.

Desired Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of professional experience in software development / DevOps
• Self-motivated do-er of things and solver of problems
• Python development experience
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, SQS, SES, etc.)
• Comfortable at a Unix terminal, and basic system administration
• Always looking for new ways to solve problems
• Passionate about new tools, processes and procedures

Bonus Skills & Experience

• SaltStack or other configuration management system
• HTTP / reverse-proxies (ELB, Nginx, HAProxy, CloudFront, etc.)
• DNS
• HashiCorp tools (Terraform, Consul, Nomad, Vault, etc.)
