Job Description

You will lead and build the common platform components that Butterfly’s product lines are developed with. The product platform allows development teams to create new customer applications and services quickly and with consideration for quality, privacy, security, and compliance. As a senior leader, you will own and deliver on projects of high ambiguity/complexity and broad scope/impact. Be part of a software leadership group that takes pride in building great software and great teams. 

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be: 

  • Build and grow teams focused on development of Butterfly software product platform.
  • Provide technical leadership across Butterfly software product engineering teams
  • Define and execute on a long term technical vision for Butterfly’s product platform across all user experiences and development teams.
  • Work with product business stream stakeholders internal and external to software engineering to inform a multi-year product platform  roadmap aligned to top business outcomes.
  • Ensure platform components meet product stream usability, latency, compliance, and reliability requirements.
  • Perform a broad variety of tasks in support of the role and responsibilities.

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • 8+ years of experience managing product development or platform focused software engineering teams
  • 5+ years designing, implementing, supporting, and extending high volume or accuracy distributed enterprise services, APIs, pipelines, or systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent technical experience
  • Experience managing multiple teams, projects, or managers/leads. 
  • Proven ability to attract, retain, and develop top software engineering talent

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):

  • Hands on experience developing and maintaining distributed systems
  • Experience with a range of infrastructure technologies such as: container orchestration, data orchestration, business middleware, build/deployment, or security 
  • Experience working in healthcare or other highly regulated environments
  • Ability to partner with cross functional teams to translate requirements into well designed solutions and to make deeply technical topics accessible to non-technical stakeholders
