OUR DEVOPS TEAM

We exist to help everyone pet parent like a pro. We bring the best philosophies, tools and practices to our technical associates across our many business groups to help everyone execute on our vision. 

HOW YOU’LL HELP EVERYONE PET PARENT LIKE A PRO

• Help grow and maintain a DevOps culture within the organization by choosing tools and implementation patterns that enable it, and educating developers on these tools/patterns as necessary.
• Write infrastructure as code with a focus on maintainable and discoverable code/configuration.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks and vulnerabilities in our infrastructure and code.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Design and implement new systems with focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Configure, monitor, and manage alerting using third-party services such as New Relic, PagerDuty, Sentry and other open source tools.
• Collaborate with other DevOps, SRE and Software Engineers in our 24/7 on-call rotation for Kinship’s critical systems.
• Participate in incident response and post-mortems, helping to perform root cause analysis and implementing resulting action items.
• Work with the team on capacity planning and optimizations to Kinship’s infrastructure footprint.
• Continue to expand and optimize Kinship’s infrastructure across multiple clouds and business units.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• 5+ years professional DevOps experience with progressive responsibilities
• Strong skills in "Infrastructure as Code" (IaC), including experience with Terraform or Pulumi.
• Fluency with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to JavaScript, TypeScript, Python or Ruby.
• Hands-on experience working with common AWS services: ALB, API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, EKS, Fargate, RDS/Postgres, Athena, Redis, SNS, SQS, Redshift, DynamoDB, EC2, S3 etc.
• Experience with microservices and distributed applications, containers, Kubernetes, and serverless architecture.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering processes & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, and agile methodologies.
• Experience working with CI/CD tools including Github Actions, CircleCI, Bamboo
• Treat best practices for security as a requirement, not an afterthought
