About the Team
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking technical individual to join us as a Senior Manager for our Secure Applications team; a group responsible for building and maintaining services that handle critical user data and financial information. We primarily focus on payments and subscription features, and must successfully complete regular training on the latest secure development practices in order to ensure continued compliance with PCI-DSS and other standards.
Location: San Francisco
Our headquarters is located in downtown San Francisco, where our group of cross-functional experts assemble to build experiences for Crunchyroll and VRV’s passionate communities.

About You
Our ideal candidate has a strong technical background, preference for measurement and modeling over perception and intuition, concern for software security and resiliency, and an interest in the latest technologies in the cloud computing space. You are comfortable defining the technical parameters of projects with your engineers, but you’re also adept at working with your business partners to speak in layman’s terms and ensure their needs are being met. Advocating for improvements in the practices of the engineering teams you work alongside is something we value and practice daily!
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years as a Software Engineer
- 1+ years as an Engineering Manager
- Experience with Golang
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and its configuration
- 2+ years of experience with secure development practices and/or securing infrastructure
- Experience measuring and modeling cost and performance metrics of cloud services
- Experience with issue-tracking software
- Keen focus toward handling and exposure of sensitive data
- Knowledge of the OWASP Top 10
Pluses

- You have worked with PCI-compliant systems
- You have CISSP certification or a related security certification
- You have experience in technical training or have given presentations on technical topics in a professional manner
- You have used the Scaled Agile Framework or have worked on projects involving various multi-functional teams
A Day in the Life of Our Senior Engineering Manager for the Secure Applications Team
On any given day, you may find yourself doing the following:
- Collaborate with your team’s product owner and program manager to forecast deliveries over multiple sprints
- Translating loose product requirements into technical specifications
- Working with the team to dissect large, deeply technical tasks into smaller tractable landmarks
- Communicate upcoming changes to the data structures of your services to downstream data and reporting teams to avoid causing disruptions
- Mentoring team members on either the latest microservice development practices or cloud technologies
- Having 1:1s to check in with team members and learn of any internal team struggles or to identify and implement meaningful career goals coupled with longterm roadmaps
- Coordinate incident response and partner communication for outages or degradations of services
