About the role:
We are seeking a highly-motivated Manufacturing Test Engineer for the AV Hardware Systems Test Engineering Group, a team focused on creating reliable test equipment for validation and manufacturing purposes. The ideal candidate has a strong background in software, automation, and electrical engineering with a focus on manufacturing.
This team concentrates on mechanical, electrical, software and controls of capital equipment used in the engineering/design validation, and manufacturing of our products.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain custom-built tools for use in our manufacturing and validation testing.
- Build test data infrastructure and architect data pipeline for internal and external equipment.
- Design, develop, document and maintain manufacturing test equipment, programs and procedures at the contract manufacturers and external suppliers.
- Design/architect complex electrical measurement systems
- Create tools for data visualization and data reporting for internal evaluation.
- Work with and manage suppliers to develop test equipment to ensure correct performance and quality per design requirements
- Develop test strategy and test plans for new products by partnering with design engineering and suppliers
You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:
- Highly proficient with Python, namely with automation of electronic equipment and developing production tools for high-volume manufacturing.
- Experience setting up data infrastructure for data collection and presentation (MySQL, BigQuery, AWS, etc.).
- Knowledge in the use of electronics lab tools including multimeters, oscilloscopes, AC/DC power supplies, function generators, etc.
- 5+ years experience in manufacturing environment preferably in electromechanical assemblies.
- 3+ years of experience building medium- to high-volume production-line electrical test equipment.
- Familiar with automotive communication protocols (LIN, CAN) and instrument control protocols (RS-232, GPIB, Ethernet, USB).
- Knowledge of industrial electrical design standards (UL508, NFPA79, etc.).
Bonus Points:
- Experience with data analysis, and understanding of GR&R, CpK, correlation and other process control-related statistics.
- Experience designing PLC-based equipment in a manufacturing environment (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff)
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment. Extra points for experience in the automotive industry.
