Position Summary

As a Senior Engineer working on attribution at Expanse, you will be an integral part of the group that mines massive, internet-scale datasets to map internet-connected assets belonging to some of the world's most important - and most relied upon - organizations. Your software will help Expanse customers discover forgotten development environments, track down devices lost in the churn of corporate M&A activity, and independently inventory 3rd party vendors' digital footprints, all without installing a single agent or appliance on their networks.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and operate Kubernetes-hosted web applications for maximum speed and scale, using a number of backend storage technologies, including Postgres, Elasticsearch, and S3
• Work with our Data Science and Cyber Risk teams to push greater and greater automation into large-scale attribution pipelines
• Ensure your team delivers high output and mentor other engineers
• Continuously seek ways to make a substantial impact on your team and the broader engineering organization
• Take ownership of large projects, driving them from product requirements through design and into implementation
• Anticipate challenges of architecting at scale, align architecture vision with strategic initiatives

About You

• 4+ years of experience as a professional software engineer building customer-facing software for a SaaS business
• Excited to work closely with customer-facing users, shipping software that affords them every advantage throughout the customer lifecycle
• Excited to dig in, prototype, build, test, and see projects through to production; results driven, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Prefer to ship features early and often, and know what that requires of release planning, testing methodology, CI infrastructure, and system observability
• Comfortable supporting your work in production
• Strong familiarity with Java and Java-based web frameworks, such as Spring Boot
• Fluent in SQL and experienced in tuning access patterns, schemas, and database deployments for performance
• Willing to get involved across the stack. If hitting "code complete" sooner means writing some Typescript, then you are able to pitch in
• Knowledge of AWS or GCP is a strong plus
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Willing and able to work in San Francisco, CA
