Snapdocs is an early-stage, rapidly growing company backed by investors like Sequoia Capital, SV Angel, YCombinator (WC14) & F Prime that is now looking for an empathetic Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to help build the next generation of our products. We're a small team tackling the absolutely massive mortgage market. We build modern, elegant software for an industry that still relies on fax machines and manila envelopes. We bring security, efficiency and joy to a paper-based pillar of the US economy.

The type of problems we focus on involve workflow, product design, and data. Monolith vs microservices is an ongoing debate. We are working to find a good authentication pattern that allows for people to work across companies in multiple roles (which is trickier than you might think!). Domain Driven Design is our guiding light. We trust our team members to make smart decisions. This means we value both independent work as well as collaboration. 

As a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer on the Mobile Notary team, one of our flagship products, you will play a central role building Ruby on Rails full stack end-to-end features & services that directly impact our users on a daily basis. You will own the design, build, and maintenance of APIs, backend services, and distributed systems. This small team works with both product and the greater engineering org to release at a high velocity while contributing in all phases of the SDLC. We expect you to lead by example, improve engineering standards, live best practices, be an advocate for quality and create processes that enable our team to build world class software for an industry in need of change.

Ideally, over the past 6+ years you have gained an expertise in building and maintaining complex Ruby on Rails applications. Your time has been spent mostly on the backend but you are comfortable working fullstack with rails templating engines such as Haml, javascript, & CSS when the need arises. You have seen scale in your time; solving a diverse range of problems in both startups and large organizations. The years in the trenches enable you to work with complex distributed systems & relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc) effectively. We are looking for an engineer that is proactive yet collaborative, empathetic & pragmatic in their approach. The learners mindset is a trait valued here at Snapdocs. Today our team is working in Ruby on Rails, React, Postgres, AWS, Docker, & Kubernetes to name a few but things change quickly so be comfortable learning new tools.
