About the team:

You will join the MX Routing team that develops routing, forwarding, VPN, SD-WAN, and IPv6 functionality for the MX SD-WAN Security Appliance. Our products are used in over a million networks, and our customers rely on our products to serve tens of millions of people. With the large footprint that we have, quality is our highest priority. The Meraki MX team delivers simple to use yet powerful, scalable and groundbreaking cloud-managed solutions to customers.

The Opportunity:

You will lead a team of software engineers that design, develop, test, maintain, and improve the software stack that provides the MX's routing, forwarding, VPN, and SD-WAN functionalities.

As a leader, you will be driving all technical aspects of software delivery, including requirements definition and refinement, design, implementation, unit and system level testing, as well as deployment.

You will partner with product management and engineering leadership to define the roadmap for all things routing and forwarding.

You will attract, grow, and retain talent, provide technical direction and career development opportunities, and cultivate the team's culture of quality, collaboration, and inclusiveness.

What we look for in your background:

  • 8+ years of management experience in the embedded software industry.
  • 12+ years of technical leadership experience in the networking industry.
  • Experience in managing a geographically dispersed team of senior software engineers and managers.
  • Good understanding of TCP and UDP mechanics including ability to interpret packet captures.
  • Experience with IPv4 and IPv6, routing protocols.
  • Experience with L3 to L7 network services (NAT, Load Balancing, High Availability, Firewalling, IPsec VPN).
  • A strong understanding of IP networking and support of fundamental IP services and protocols (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, IPsec)
  • Experience with development in the Linux environment.
  • Experience with mentoring software engineers.
  • Experience with delivering networking product(s) to customers.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to get work done across functional groups.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with modern C++ (C++11 and further).
  • Experience with one or more open-source networking software frameworks (e.g., VPP, DPDK, Click Modular Router).
  • Experience with an Agile methodology (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Working experience with Click router.
