As a Senior Staff Lab Software Systems Engineer at GRAIL, you’ll enjoy designing and architecting a broad array of lab software systems and projects including our custom LIMS and Automation platforms. We pride ourselves on building effective, efficient, easy to use and scalable software systems to address GRAIL’s many computational and automation related challenges. Our LIMS and Automation Software teams are building innovative automated workcell systems with robot arms that are highly scalable and critical to us delivering our test at volume to patients. Our tech stack includes Golang, AWS, Kubernetes, MySQL, Docker, React, Green Button Go, etc.
You will:
- Architecting and creating our high throughput work cell based lab software ecosystem, contributing to GRAIL’s LIMS and sample processing automation.
- Designing for testing, monitoring, logging, reliability, and security as we scale for future production.
- Leading, mentoring and teaching other team members to help improve their skills and elevate the software organization.
Your Background Includes:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics, or similar technical field.
- At least 10+ years of industry work experience working with and creating full-stack applications, lab and healthcare software, LIS/LIMS, clinical systems or microservice ecosystems.
- Experience with laboratory automation software or devices/instrumentation.
- Experience with software development in a regulated industry.
- Working knowledge of general-purpose programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, Go.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and self-direction.
- Demonstrated willingness to teach others and learn new techniques.
- Experience with AWS infrastructure.
- Experience with database migration, performance tuning, and optimization.
- Experience managing PHI and other clinical data in a HIPAA-compliant environment.
