Mission:

Fivetran is looking for a high performance, experienced engineer to be a part of our new and growing SRE team. You will be working closely with engineering teams, Product Managers, as well as Support and Sales Engineers to build the future of the Fivetran Data Platform Reliability. 

As a member of the SRE team, you will take ownership of the overall performance and reliability of Fivetran’s infrastructure, robustness of the deployment pipeline, as well as timely and effective incident response and resolution. You will take responsibility for the growth and stability of Fivetran’s infrastructure and be a key player driving effective incident response and overall issue avoidance.

Outcomes:

By month 1

- Start participating in our on-call rotation

- Join our release committee and start preventing risky rollouts

- Start monitoring Fivetran platform

- Start contributing to incident post-mortems

By month 2

- Automate a significant component of Fivetran infrastructure

- Develop general awareness of all areas of Fivetran's code base and infrastructure

By month 6

- Build release management tooling to automatically enforce release policies

- Develop deep expertise in infrastructure

- Influence software and infrastructure design to improve stability of the system

By month 9

- Contribute to automating all Fivetran infrastructure as code

As a Senior Staff SRE at Fivetran, you will:

• Be responsible for ongoing reliability and robustness of Fivetran's production infrastructure
• Scale Fivetran sustainably through automation
• Evolve systems by adding reliability into our product roadmap
• Participate in on-call rotations
• Support new services before they go live through system design consulting and launch reviews
• Maintain services by monitoring availability, capacity, and throughput
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless post-mortems
• Participate in the review of major or possibly dangerous changes
• Coordinate and fix critical bugs for support or sales requirements as needed
• Learn and study all failures to add to roadmap of future reliability 

Your Superpowers:

• 5 years experience working in a Site or Service Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, or Operations role 
• Container based deployments and orchestration tools (i.e. Kubernetes)
• Cloud Platforms and related tooling: AWS, GCP, Terraform, configuration management, etc. 
• Experience in a scripting language (Python, etc.), and a shell language (Bash, Fish, etc.). 
• Experience with Linux operating systems internals and administration 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills 
• Strong intuition about system design, robustness, and scalability 
• Can troubleshoot problems with existing code and systems 
• Mentors members of the SRE team, as well as Product Engineers
