In the newly formed Consumer division at Unity Technologies, we are thinking about and helping to shape the future of consumer experiences. At our core we are passionate about gaming, leading more players to discover games they like, and enabling more creators to create games they want to share.

Join the Consumer Technology Team to help us craft the direction and the future of immersive augmented reality for consumers.

What you’ll be doing

Collaborate with leadership to envision and deliver working prototypes alongside amazingly dedicated colleagues.
Grow and finesse prototypes into robust production-level experiences.
Design, build, and refine exciting, intuitive, and sophisticated XR interactions.
Employ Unity’s latest machine learning and XR innovations.
Propose, champion, and implement technical solutions, architecture, and methodologies.

What we’re looking for

Passion for immersive XR in all of its forms; virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality.
Experience building sophisticated XR interactions in Unity with a proven proficiency in C#.
Experience in / knowledge of software development and standard methodologies (continuous integration, source control management, code reviews).
Ability to navigate and self-organize in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills. Predilection for teamwork; eagerness to share and receive feedback. We’re in this together!

You might also have

Cloud technology experience (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure).
Database architecture experience.

Building better products with diverse perspectives

“When Unity says, ‘The world is a better place with more creators in it,’ that mission has to be inclusive of all creators,” said Tricia McIntosh. As the co-chair of Access ERG, McIntosh is working to influence change and be a conduit for disabled and neurodivergent voices by partnering with the accessibility council and engineering team. Access ERG engages in a number of activities, such as soliciting feedback from the group and bringing in guest speakers. By amplifying disabled perspectives internally, the company has a better chance of creating a product that is better for everyone.

Making it easy for disabled employees to work and thrive at Unity means that we will be better able to create accessible products, and therefore serve a greater number of creators overall.

Envisioning a better future

James Turnage-Lannan stays busy. When he’s not creating programs that support Unity’s underrepresented learners in finding job opportunities, he is working to launch Elevate, a hiring program to support job seekers, and co-chairing ComUnidad, Unity’s Latinx ERG. “I joined ComUnidad to get more in touch with my Nicaraguan half. Now, as a co-chair, I am so proud of the Latinx community that we’ve built,” said Turnage-Lannan. He constantly receives messages from community members and allies thanking the team for building a comfortable space to be themselves at work.

My work on these programs gives me a glimpse into the future I would like to see in this industry. My hope is that programs like these shift the mindsets of those with the power to make a difference.
