Software Engineer, Performance Team

The engineering leader that we are looking for must possess analytical, design, and problem diagnosis skills and have expertise with high-performance systems and distributed service design. You should be comfortable working with multiple teams through all phases of software development, including the ability to deep dive into their design process, architecture, development, and validation methodologies. The ability to translate high-level technical requirements into executable project plans is essential. In this role, you can expect to
- You work with our engineering leaders to Identify bottlenecks in our existing software infrastructure and guide the team through a path forward to improve and scale it.
- Have responsibility for ensuring that overall system performance, efficiency, and scalability objectives are met.
- Own the design. implementation, and execution of agile performance engineering testing, working closely with Engineers during each sprint.
- Translate a deep understanding of functional and technical requirements being worked by developers into enhanced automated performance measurement and evaluation framework to support continuous performance management.
- Actively participate in code and design reviews to maintain exceptional quality and deepen your understanding of the system architecture and implementation.
- Apply the principles of continuous performance management to design, development stages, and implement improvements in a continuous integration environment.
- Mentor junior perf engineers, empower engineers to leverage the tooling you support, and building a world-class performance engineering team.
To thrive in this role you
- 10+ years of experience building scalable, maintainable, and production ready backend systems and frameworks with an eye towards making those around you more efficient.
- Experience with Large scale database systems operations, query optimization, understanding and tuning query access plans, and query execution instrumentation.
- Very good understanding of parallel system performance, efficiency and scalability measurement, and analysis.
- Experience in characterizing, debugging, and correcting performance issues in large scale distributed systems.
- Experienced in debugging and prototyping enhancements to low-level concurrency and synchronization primitives for scalable multi-threaded programs.
