Team Overview

At our CrowdStar studio, we believe that there is a huge opportunity in interactive entertainment products and CrowdStar’s goal is to build products which engage, enrich and empower users. With our two top grossing titles, Covet Fashion and Design Home, CrowdStar has developed new ways for players to enjoy fashion and design. Role Overview

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Tools Engineering team and play a critical role in supporting our newly announced title, Table & Taste. You will work across disciplines to develop and support applications and game features, build pipelines, and a wide array of client and backend developer tools. Above all, you should have a passion for making tools that improves productivity and make work easier for your colleagues. Collaborate on and promote a thriving company culture that features fun, happy hours, social events, and game jams/hack-a-thons.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, integrate and support a wide set of development, pipelines and administrative tools
  • Work closely with backend engineers to create build pipelines and automation
  • Create logging, performance and monitoring tools for backend and client
  • Produce reliable estimates for tasks, and be able to propose alternatives to save on implementation time
  • Contribute to and uphold good production processes and coding practices
  • Ready to learn new technologies and work across development lanes

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of PHP, JS, HTML and CSS development experience in a fast-paced environment with short project deadlines
  • Strong experience maintaining source code and automating in GitLab
  • Expertise building web-based tools
  • Experience building desktop or native application tools
  • Experience with toolsets used for profiling and optimizing backend and client systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills, flexibility, and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Passionate about games that will be played by millions around the world

Bonus Points

  • Expertise building layout and localization tools
  • Prior experience working in a gaming company
  • Experience with Unity/C#
  • Expertise on creating/integrating performance and monitoring tools

Our office is right across the street from Moscone Center West, just minutes from the BART station and 4th + King Caltrain with shuttle service.
