Crunchyroll COVID-19 Hiring Status
Crunchyroll employees are currently working from home, and we are still conducting remote interviews and hiring during this time. This role is expected to start remotely, and we’ll work closely with you as we understand every person has unique circumstances.

About The Team
Our engineers are using groundbreaking tools and technologies to efficiently build outstanding user experiences across more than 10 platforms for multiple brands. We craft frameworks where content can be delivered to millions of users daily. Video is at the core of our streaming service and is supported by dedicated playback and infrastructure teams. Our geographically distributed CMS team supports both external and internal business partners end-to-end, as content is ingested, organized and distributed within our applications and to other 3rd party video distribution platforms.
About You:
The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in architecting distributed systems, and experience building highly scalable and robust platforms. Show dedication to implement good engineering practices, and be committed to training your teams. Own SDLC within the team and ensure product goals and timelines are met without compromising on quality. Should be open to traveling to our remote offices occasionally to collaborate with other team members of your service domain. You also enjoy advocating for overall improvements in the practices of the engineering teams you work with. Be open in supporting your team as a servant leader.
Requirements
- Bachelors in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- 6+ years as a software engineer who has built back-end, cloud-based systems
- Experience in building and handling front-end applications
- 3+ years as a successful manager
- 3+ years worked alongside remote teams
- Experience implementing auto-scaling policies and tuning for cost vs performance
- Familiarity with code design principles, patterns, and critical thinking
- Experience with automated testing principles and best-practices
- Built SQL and NoSQL data stores and their applications
- Experience with Docker and containerizing microservices
- Experience measuring and modeling cost and performance metrics of cloud services
- Experience with bug tracking software like JIRA
Pluses
- Experience leading geographically distributed teams
- Familiarity with internet video or content management systems
- Active participation in one or more open-source projects
- Familiarity with Golang
- Familiarity with React/Redux
- Experience with multiple AWS technologies
- Experience with implementing and operating systems using message driven architecture
A day in the life of our CMS Team
- Working closely with product owner and program manager to forecast deliveries over multiple sprints
- Communicate to other technical and business teams
- Translating loose product requirements into technical specifications
- Ensure team is on track with sprint goals and mitigate risks to ensure goals are reached
- Mentor team members on either the latest microservice development practices or cloud technologies
- Having 1:1s to check in with team members to learn of any internal team struggles and/or to build career path opportunities !
- Coordinate incident response and communication for outages or degradations in your services
