How You'll Fulfill Your Mission

    • Develop, commission, and support custom NFPA79 compliant automated manufacturing equipment used to scale the production of rockets and rocket sub-assemblies
    • Program, implement, and debug PLC based controls for automation, motion control, robotic, machine vision, and process equipment for rocket production
    • Design, document, and assemble custom UL508A compliant electrical cabinets and system wiring assemblies
    • Select and source sensors, motors, components and interface with suppliers and vendors
    • Drive, contribute to, and evaluate 3rd party manufacturing equipment designs
    • Write technical documents such as engineering design specifications, system one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, technical procedures, etc.


Qualifications

    • 8+ years of applicable industry experience in controls engineering, mechatronics, robotics or equivalent discipline
    • PLC programming experience for automated or semi-automated industrial applications
    • Understanding of power distribution for industrial equipment and NFPA79 and UL508A standards
    • Experience with VFD, servo, or stepper motor control techniques and implementation
    • Experience with machine safety, safety circuits, E-Stop, EMO, safety relays, light curtains, interlocks, etc.
    • Working knowledge of common industrial interface protocols such as TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, EtherCat, ModBus, DeviceNet, ProfiBus, etc.
    • Familiar with handshaking techniques for material and/or data transfer between automated industrial equipment
    • Ability to build cables and wire electrical panels as needed
    • BS or MS degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar

    • Experience with machine vision or AOI
    • Manufacturing or NPI experience
    • Lean Six Sigma Certification
    • Scrum project management
    • Embedded programming experience
    • Circuit design and PCB development experience
    • Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments


ITAR Requirements: This position requires compliance with U.S. Government space technology trade restrictions, specifically the International Trafficking in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and additional regulations governing satellite, launch vehicle, missile, and other related technologies. All jobs restricted by these regulations will be contingent upon the applicant's status as a documented U.S. Person or their ability to receive a trade license from the cognizant government agency; in addition to any required company background checks and in compliance with applicable U.S. and California laws. Similarly, positions requiring the ability to work on government contracts or a security clearance are also contingent upon the applicants ability to receive the appropriate clearance and be allowed to work on U.S. government contracts.
