We are hiring a Staff Backend Engineer who can move incredibly fast while delivering a quality product. You'll work on high impact projects affecting the key fundamentals of Reddit, helping to lead a team of thoughtful, fast moving, motivated engineers. In addition to building technology, you’ll contribute to the product and business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and implement the backend infrastructure that powers the foundation of Reddit's communities 
  • Increase efficiency through automation, improved signals, workflow streamlining and system optimization
  • Spearhead the full development cycle: design, develop, QA, experiment, analyze, and deploy
  • Partner across product, design, and engineering teams to innovate and implement sophisticated solutions to complex challenges
  • Act as a mentor to other engineers on the team and be a part of helping them hit their max potential

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Expertise in at least one backend programming language (e.g. Python, Go, Java)
  • Experience with service-oriented architectures - kubernetes experience a plus
  • Curiosity and ability to be autonomous to figure out what's important
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with a service-oriented team
