As a Security Engineer, you will be responsible for building the security controls protecting Coinbase. You will develop and foster partnerships with key business groups to ensure that we're delivering the right tools and services to the right people at the right time.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop innovative solutions by using the latest in security technology and applied cryptography.
  • Design, deploy, and operate security-critical architectures and services.
  • Identify opportunities and debug difficult technical problems to make systems more secure, performant, and efficient.
  • Write high quality, well-tested, and secure code to meet the needs of your customers.
  • Partner with engineers and product teams to drive security-critical projects into a tangible roadmap.
  • Coach and mentor engineers; help calibrate and develop the Security Engineering team.

What we look for in you:

  • At least 7+ years software engineering experience in industry
  • Passionate about improving and solving for complex security problems. 
  • Experience with distributed systems and large scale engineering challenges.
  • Proficient in a modern high level language Python, Ruby, or Go and familiar with gRPC + Protobuf.
  • Comfortable leading cross-functional initiatives, and collaborating with product managers, UX designers, and engineering teams.

Nice to haves:

  • Deep experience in Cryptography and/or Authentication/Authorization systems
  • Experience in securing large Rails, NodeJS, and Golang codebases.
  • Experience in securing Digital Assets.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with public cloud providers.
