Join Shippo’s Growth Team!
The team’s mission is to help merchants succeed by making their Shippo experience both intuitive and delightful. The team collaborates with the product, sales, marketing and support to run rapid development cycles in driving customer growth.

Your role will be to lead the Growth Team in technical projects, working with fellow engineers to give them guidance on features and products that will help drive Shippo’s customer acquisition and activation. In this hands-on role, you are given the opportunity to work across our stacks from our frontend, API, and backend processing systems. You will also work closely with product management to help define, prioritize and deliver on the product roadmap and team OKRs.

Your Next Milestones

• Work with Product and Engineers (or any other teams really) to understand and break down features into small executable chunks and ensure good development flow of items to production
• Run rapid iteration (design, implement, test, and deploy) cycles to validate or invalidate usage hypotheses while still maintaining code integrity and quality
• Hold 1x1s with your fellow team members to help guide them on the roadmap, OKR delivery, and other project delivery tasks.
• Design and implement products and features to improve our front-end interface and help contribute to backend services or provide feedback on changes required.
• Participate in tech design reviews, peer reviews for new products, features and systems beyond just the growth team and on-call (don’t worry, ours is sane and orderly).

Starting Out You Should Have

• Experience leading growth teams focused on rapid iterations, AB testing and data-driven approach to implement key features that drive user adoption and growth
• Experience building scalable backend APIs (e.g. REST, gRPC, GraphQL) using server-side programming languages such as Go, Python, Ruby or Java
• Experience in JS Frameworks such as React, Ember, Angular or Vue
• 5+ years of experience in software development
• 2+ years of experience leading software development teams
• Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Be Awesome If You Have

• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and familiarity with various design and architectural patterns
• Experience with backend frameworks such as Django, Rails, Phoenix, NodeJS etc.
• Solid understanding of extensible components and modules for JS, HTML, and CSS
• Experience with automated UI and cross-browser testing frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Ghost Inspector, Testim, Browserstack etc
• Experience with Fraud detection services (Sift Science, Stripe Radar)

After Being Here for a Few Months, You Should Have

• Understanding and empathy for our customers’ needs and appreciation for customer success
• Understanding of how our various systems connect to each other (Ember / React Frontends with our Django and Go backends) and overall systems architecture.
• Delivering meaningful functionality that customers are actively using
• Been in on-call rotation (and hopefully not be called) and deployed and managed several production releases
• Internalize our core values and behaviors and use that as a guiding principle on how you work
