Technical Leader, Wi-Fi QA Engineer - MR

About the team:
You will join the MR firmware QA team that is fully embedded within Software Engineering. The QA team builds and runs any and all software and hardware tests to ensure that new releases meet our quality and reliability standards. Our products are used in over a million networks and our customers rely on our products to serve tens of millions of people. With the large footprint that we have, quality is our highest priority. We are looking for a Lead QA engineer who is as passionate about quality as we are. Your contributions will make a direct impact to the success of our business. Meraki engineers put customer experience first, own projects from beginning to end, and are empowered to make impactful decisions.
As a Lead WiFi QA Engineer, you will focus on the following:
- Architect and execute test plans and testbeds to support next generation WiFi products and features
- Own test topologies and testbeds from topology-diagram inception, to proof of concept test beds that scale well, all the way to a production test in our release cycle
- Collaborate with Software teams (Platform, Features etc) as well as Hardware and Product Management teams to develop reliable and scalable testing processes for existing and upcoming products and software features
- Collaborate with WiFi chipset vendors on a regular basis to fix and solve low level WiFi issues that might block releases
- Collaborate with Hardware team and Joint Device Manufacturers (JDM) to define testing processes at the manufacturing stage
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance in scoping out their projects
- Collaborate with other engineers across product teams to continually improve our testing and quality practices
- Provide technical leadership to the larger MR team: weighing in on testing and quality priorities, projects going on across the team, etc.
You are an ideal candidate if you:
- Have a BS/MS in Computer Networking, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Have 10+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance
- Have 7+ years of experience in WiFi QA and testing technologies/tools
- Have expert-level knowledge of 802.11 protocols and enterprise WiFi use cases
- Have strong Computer Networking (VLANs, DHCP, TCP, VoIP, IPv6) knowledge
- Have strong experience in analyzing Wireshark packet captures (wired and wireless) to solve low level issues
- Have experience in creating and executing system-level test plans with automation and scalability in mind
- Have basic experience with test automation and scripting (bash, ruby or python etc)
Bonus points for:
- Expertise in test automation (Ruby or Python)
