At Standard Cognition, we’re rethinking the way retail works. We are enabling autonomous checkout for brick & mortar retailers with our AI-powered computer vision platform. Since launching in November 2017, Standard has contracts with multiple global retailers and is in the process of deploying our Standard Checkout solution across thousands of stores globally. We announced our Series A in November 2018 and we’re backed by some of Silicon Valley’s leading investors including CRV, Initialized, Draper Associates and YCombinator. We announced our Series B in July 2019.

You will accelerate our development by helping our engineers and researchers build reliable systems that we can confidently push to a large number of production systems. You will partner with researchers and engineers to build new features, improve performance and stability by designing mock services, development harnesses and exposing failure modes and bugs. Participate in incident review and postmortems to identify risk areas and formulate testing strategies. You will leverage state and sensor data from our system to stress every line of our code base via high fidelity system and integration tests. You will collaborate with infrastructure and automation teams to integrate with our continuous integration systems and ensure developers can efficiently deliver high quality software.

This is a FULL TIME role located onsite at our San Francisco office. 

What you'll do here:

• Partner with research and systems engineers to identify and design high fidelity system tests.
• Design lightweight development harnesses and mock services to optimize the development cycle.
• Develop internal tools to assist other developers and test engineers.
• Build automation for verification and validation of the inference system and integration with other services.

Who you are:

• Experience with a low level compiled language like Rust or C/C++
• Familiarity with Distributed or Clustered systems
• Deep knowledge and experience with automated test frameworks, version control and continuous integration systems.
• Infrastructure automation tools ranging from Pupet, Chef, Ansible to Mesos, Nomad.
• Familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
